What You Need to Know About Test Results and Billing
At Boulder Medical Center, we are committed to partnering with you to ensure your health and well-being. X-rays, lab tests, and cardiology tests are essential to your care and are often performed by third-party facilities. We want to help you understand how these services work, how to follow up on test results, and what to expect with billing.
Getting Your Test Results
How X-rays, Lab Tests, and Cardiology Tests Work
- X-rays and Imaging Tests: Many imaging tests, such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, are performed by third-party imaging providers. Once your imaging is complete, the results are typically shared with your Boulder Medical Center provider for review and follow-up.
- Lab Tests: Third-party labs often process lab tests, such as bloodwork or urinalysis. These facilities analyze the samples and send the results directly to your provider.
- Cardiology Tests: Third-party providers may also perform tests such as echocardiograms, stress tests, or EKGs. Once completed, the results are shared with your Boulder Medical Center cardiology team for review and recommendations.
Why Haven’t I Heard About My Results?
Our goal is to review and communicate test results promptly. However, delays can sometimes occur due to factors like the time it takes third-party facilities to process and transmit results or technical issues. If you’re waiting for results, here’s what you can do:
- Allow Up to 7 Working Days: In most cases, your provider will review your results and reach out within 7 working days of your test.
- Follow Up If Needed: If you haven’t heard from us after 7 working days, please call our office to ensure we’ve received your results and can provide the next steps.
A Collaborative Approach to Your Healthcare
Your healthcare is a partnership between you and your providers. Staying informed about your test results and actively participating in your care helps us work together to achieve the best outcomes. If you have questions or haven’t received your results, reaching out ensures we can provide the timely care and information you need.
Billing for Lab, Imaging, and Cardiology Services
What You Should Know About Billing
It’s important to know that third-party lab, imaging, and cardiology services are billed independently from Boulder Medical Center. If you receive a bill for these services, it will come directly from the lab, imaging, or cardiology provider, not from Boulder Medical Center.
To avoid unexpected costs, we recommend the following steps:
- Check Your Insurance Coverage: Before scheduling lab, imaging, or cardiology services, verify with your insurance company that the facility is in-network. This can help reduce your out-of-pocket costs and prevent billing surprises.
- Contact the Provider for Billing Questions: If you have questions about a bill from a third-party facility, please get in touch with the lab, imaging, or cardiology provider listed on the bill directly. They will be able to assist you with specific billing details.
Understanding this process can help eliminate confusion and ensure a smoother experience when receiving these services.
