Is it safe to come to Boulder Medical Center Urgent Care?
Our clinic is safe, operational, and prepared to handle your urgent care needs. Our staff closely follows CDC protocols and works with local public health departments to ensure our facilities and clinics adhere to the latest health guidelines. A few notes:
- We will screen you for COVID-19 symptoms when you visit our Urgent Care.
- Once you are checked in, we may ask that you wait in your vehicle, not in the lobby, while we work to provide an isolated room.
- Please wear a properly fitted mask at all times while visiting our clinic.
What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
Symptoms can range from mild to severe illness and appear 2–14 days after you are exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19. You can start evaluating a possible COVID-19 infection using our screening questions.
Symptoms can include the following:
- Cough
- Congestion
- Sore Throat
- Fever (over 100°F)
- Muscle Aches or Pain
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Nausea/Vomiting
- Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing
- New Loss of Taste or Smell
The results are very reliable if you test positive for Covid-19 at home.
I feel sick and think I may have COVID-19. What should I do?
For Boulder Medical Center patients, here are a few options:
- Take the home test, or…
- Come to our urgent care for a walk-in appointment, and we will administer a COVID-19 test. Please tell the check-in desk staff if you think you have COVID-19
I tested positive using a home COVID-19 test. What should I do now?
- Please remember that if you tested positive for COVID-19 with an at-home test, these tests are very reliable, so YES, you have COVID-19.
- Visit the CDC page for information on when to take a test and what to do after a positive or negative test.
I tested negative using a home COVID-19 test. What should I do now?
- Negative results from self-tests do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection. A negative self-test result may not be reliable, especially if you have symptoms associated with COVID-19.
- If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone who is positive, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19 is more sensitive and specific than an at-home test. You can be seen at the Boulder Medical Center urgent care for a PCR test.
I am experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Do I have COVID-19, or is something else going on?
Unfortunately, COVID-19 mimics many other viruses with similar symptoms. Testing is the only way to know.
Do you see COVID-19 patients at Boulder Medical Center Urgent Care?
- Yes, we see patients who have COVID-19. However, we recommend you stay home in quarantine and use supportive care measures if your symptoms are mild.
- If you are having symptoms and come to our urgent care clinic, please be aware that we will send you to the emergency room if our providers determine that this is necessary.
What can you do if I come to urgent care due to COVID-19 concerns?
- We can test you for COVID-19 using a PCR test
- Listen to your lungs
- Check your vitals
- Our providers may refer you to the nearest emergency room
When should I go to the emergency room with COVID-19 symptoms?
- Go to the emergency room for symptoms that can’t wait, such as:
- Chest pain
- Your blood oxygen (O2) level is less than 91%
- You are experiencing increased trouble breathing
