Jennifer M. Blattner, M.D. - Obstetrics & Gynecology

Dr. Jennifer Blattner was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania and grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  She traveled to San Diego for her internship and residency, where she met and married her husband, Jim.  They have a young daughter, Adelyn, and a small dog, Daisy.  She and her family were ecstatic to move to the beautiful blue skies and Rocky Mountains of Colorado when she joined the Boulder Medical Center in 2012.  She and her husband and daughter enjoy hiking and bicycling together.  She values time spent with family and friends and enjoys reading, knitting, music and theater, dancing, traveling, and scuba diving.

MEDICAL TRAINING AND SPECIALTY

Dr. Blattner earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a major in Biostatistics.  She obtained her medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  She completed her internship and residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego, California, then practiced as an OBGYN in the Navy for four years.  After her commitment with the Navy was completed, she was in private practice in Hendersonville, North Carolina for two years prior to moving to Colorado.  She is excited to be here with her family and thrilled to meet and care for the women in Boulder.

Dr. Blattner is the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Berlex Best Teaching Resident Award in 2004, Outstanding Case Report Award at the Naval Medical Center San Diego in 2005, Resident Reporter to ACOG Annual Clinical Meeting in 2005, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Surgeon Award in 2006, and Research Coordinator at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune from 2008-2010.

She is committed to quality and excellence as evidenced by her membership and commitment of time to hospital quality and risk management committees throughout her career.  She is committed to practicing evidence-based medicine and staying updated on her specialty.

Dr. Blattner enjoys developing long-lasting relationships with her patients.  She chose the OBGYN specialty after witnessing family members struggle with complicated pregnancies and gynecological surgery.  She subsequently delivered her own daughter prematurely, as well.  She understands the stresses of pregnancy and the multiple demands on women as mothers, wives, partners, and professionals.  She brings her personal experience to help guide women through the many physical and emotional challenges they face in different stages of their lives, including adolescence, early adulthood, motherhood, and menopause.

Her practice includes the full spectrum of general obstetrics and gynecology with an additional focus in urogynecological procedures such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.  She is trained to manage high risk conditions in pregnancy to include diabetes, hypertension, coagulation disorders and other high risk medical conditions, in consultation with the perinatologist when needed.  Her philosophy is to help and support all of her patients’ desires with the goal of a happy and healthy mom and baby.

She offers both medical and surgical management for both common and complicated gynecological disorders, including a focus on minimally invasive surgical options.  Common conditions evaluated and treated include contraception counseling, preconception counseling, infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, breast health, vaginal discharge, abnormal periods, fibroids, abnormal pap smears, pelvic pain, polycystic ovarian syndrome, vulvar pain, urinary incontinence, vaginal and uterine prolapse, pessary use, sexually transmitted diseases, and many other gynecological conditions.  Common procedures offered include colposcopy and treatment of cervical dysplasia; endometrial ablation; hysteroscopy; vaginal, laparoscopic, and abdominal hysterectomy; laparoscopic tubal ligation and Essure hysteroscopic tubal occlusion; urethral slings; vaginal prolapse repair, and many others.
