The pulmonary department is involved with both disorders and health maintenance of the respiratory tract. Included in pulmonary medicine are problems involving the airways and lungs.

Common Symptoms that are Evaluated Include:

• Chest pain
• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Snoring
• Wheezing

Common Disorders that are Diagnosed & Treated Include:

• Asthma
• Blood clots
• Bronchitis
• Emphysema
• Lung cancer
• Pneumonia
• Sleep-related problems
• Smoking related problems

A Pulmonary Evaluation may Include:

• A History and Physical Exam
• Pulmonary Function Testing which are Breathing Tests
• Blood Oxygen Levels
• Chest X-Rays
• Exercise Testing
• And if Indicated: Bronchoscopy which is a fiber optic direct exam of the lungs
